I originally wrote my book "Becoming God"
as scientific approach to debunk spirituality and religion through a
close examination of quantum physics, neurobiology, and string
theory. For me, there was no mystery. Everything, I
thought, could be explained by the forces of nature and through
sciences that we are just now beginning to unravel. I couldn't
have been more wrong.
As I began researching my book, it became clear to me that there was a
much closer connection between science and spirituality than anyone
could ever imagine. The more I probed into this enigmatic
subject, the more sure I became that science itself is not only showing
us how it is intricately connected to spirituality, but is in fact,
merely a metaphor inserted within our waking dream (that we call
reality) as a reminder that all of our thoughts and emotions manifest
themselves every second of our lives as the reality we see before our
eyes.
Exploring these ideas has been the premiss of metaphysics for many years. Metaphysics
literally translates as meta (meaning "after") physical. Or
simply the study of a realm beyond the physical dimension. When I
first learned about metaphysics I became
very excited, but the deeper I entrenched myself into this philosophy,
the more deeply disenchanted I became with it. Metaphysics
often disregards any kind of scientific method to its claims, in turn,
it often gets lost deep within a lot of hocus-pocus nonsense.
This book takes a different approach to metaphysics,
because I do believe there is something to this, however my intention
is to differentiate between the aspects of the philosophy that agree
and hold up to scientific rebuttal and the aspects that lie within the
vivid imagination of a more primitive culture.
This transformation from atheist to spiritual enlightenment has been
the most significant experience of my life, affecting all of my
thoughts about everything and changing the very essence of my
being. I have in the process become a conscious being who is
truly self-aware.
