And so the story goes…
I am becoming God. I am, and forever will be, “becoming” through self-expression, that which I desire to be. As desire unfolds, I experience this wish fulfilled through the limitation of human senses within this present moment. Through self-limitation, brought fourth through the process of creation, I exist in a continuous state of becoming something new, forever surfing on an imaginary wave of experience.
When I am centered, I am the all and the nothing. I am the alpha and the omega. I am the light and the life of the moment. I am the one who birthed this moment into being, and yet I am the father and also the son. I have many names: Jahova, Jesus, Moses, Allah, Buddha, Krishna, Brahman to name a few, but I am mostly just "me". I am the center of all life and all existence. With the world revolving around me, I am immersed into the details, identity and role of the form I have presently chosen to focus on and become.
At this moment, I am not an enlightened being, but instead a human being with moments of clarity. I could not be enlightened and write this book. For one, I don't think I'd have the interest, and secondly, there would be no one else to write this book for. From my frequent moments of clarity, I remember this: It is my divine job to play the role I have assumed to be now to the fullest, and share this current manifested expression through love. Knowing this is enlightenment, acting on this is self-actualization and forgetting this is death. There is only one single consciousness, and at this moment, I have assumed to be the person reading this very passage.
If this is who I am, then the real question, as proposed by one famous smoking caterpillar, would be butterfly, is: Who are you? From your perspective, you are the one reading this! And as you read, a voice "says" these words within the confines of your own skull. Rather than a mystical voice from the sky or a burning bush, "I", the intelligence that eternally is, has created a moment, this moment - complete with a book to hold in ones hand, in order to make the experience of self-realization a little more personal and just a little more comfortable. Somehow, it is reassuring to have a complete stranger share these similar thoughts, experiences and questions about the universe and about divinity. But make no mistake, the information contained in this book is already within you. Book or no book, you are getting this message now, because now is when you are ready to understand. If you still cannot understand how this could possibly be so, then I am happy to tell you this is exactly what this book intends to contemplate. If you have no Idea of what I'm talking about, now might not be your time to awaken. You can hit the snooze button anytime by closing this book. When you feel you are ready, I will still be here waiting to guide you.
In this book, I'm going to fill you in on something you've always known, but temporarily forgotten. I'm going to give away the magicians trick. But I must warn you, that once the proverbial rabbit is out of the hat there is no turning back. Everything about the world as you know it will be completely different. The truth will be revealed and the game of your life will finally be under way.
When we experience magic, it's a natural reaction to ask how the "trick" was performed. To actually believe in magic carries a lot of uncertainty. It's far too scary to actually believe someone could possess this kind of unlimited power, so we look for the illusion in order to cut the magic down to a size that is less intimidating. However, unlike revealing a magicians trick, this revelation works in reverse. Upon revealing this sleight of hand, you come to realize the real magician is you and the trick is being played on yourself. Upon realizing this, the word "impossible" instantly vanishes from your vocabulary, because you can clearly see, that through this magic, all things really are possible. Magic becomes reality and reality becomes miracle.
If you are unsure you are ready for this revelation of mind, then rest assured that whether you feel you are ready or not, the answer has found you. If after it is revealed, you decide that you are not ready, then simply shift your focus to the slight of hand called "ones daily drama" and soon you will find a way to forget the truth once again; For the real trick to this game is believing in magic, in spite of the relentless misdirection distracting our attention at any given moment.
Ready?
To reveal any magic trick, we need to view the performance from multiple perspectives: (1) The observer, who experiences the magic; (2) The Magician who knows the truth of the illusion; and (3) A Third perspective, a perspective that can "see" through the minds eye, an image collapsing both of these perspectives into a single experience, and Abracadabra! A realization of the truth of the illusion emerges within the minds eye.
Likewise, to see this truth of being, we are required to view this continuously changing moment from three distinct perspectives. The first perspective is the perspective you are already familiar with. It is the perspective we view and experience the world from everyday. Most of the time this perspective is obscured by our own ego. The experiences we have had since our birth have created a personality through which we view the world. This personality filters the potential of all reality through the lens of duality, judgement and expectation. When you can learn to view this world as it really is, without this filter, we begin to wake up and transcend this perspective, where we see for the first time, the "Egoic" or Relative Perspective.
The second perspective needed to reveal this trick of consciousness, is the infinite perspective. This birds' eye view of the present moment, seen only through the imagination of the minds eye, can be called the divine perspective, or the perspective of the present moment from an infinite point of view. From this stupendously removed perspective, into the furthest reaches of infinity, time is so insignificant, it is as though it does not flow at all. From this vantage point, from the beginning of time and space itself, we can see how absolutely meaningless we are in the scope of such a vast universe. We are a spec of dust on an insignificant planet located on the outskirts of a very distant galaxy. Our entire existence lasts for barely a flicker. Even the evolutionary span of the entire human race would be shorter than the duration of a camera flash from this near infinite point of view. Anything we do, accomplish or create is so insignificant there are almost no words to define the meaninglessness of it. However, from this unobstructed view of reality, we realize just how precious this moment is. That out of nothing, became this amazing something called life in the here and now. This present moment is a miracle of cosmic magic. This is the Absolute Perspective.
Realization happens when one can learn to balance these two perspectives simultaneously. Like the ripples fading away to the stilling of a pond, these two perspectives collapse and a new view of reality emerges within the minds eye. Through this mental clarity of a momentary reality, which is transcendent of time and space, it eventually becomes self-evident that everything is connected at inconceivable levels of detail. Even stranger, is this communion of all things seems to be happening through "me", the conscious observer.
It is as though all reality is emanating from the self within the here and now, no different from the experience of a dream. It is a miraculous awakening of mind that is so fantastically overwhelming in both personal meaning and universal connectivity, it is impossible to fully process, and yet the experience itself provides a sense of knowing deeper than anything one could ever know in humanistic terms. It is a knowledge that comes from within. Similar to instinct, it is a sense of knowing and understanding that transcends all language. It is like re-entering the womb. This is the magic of the Enlightened Perspective.
Once this magic is unveiled it becomes incredibly difficult to distinguish what is real and what isn't. Reality becomes a Twilight Zone full of impossible synchronicities, metaphors, and signs. In every way I know through the human experience, life still seems very real when I open my eyes. But, through the stillness of mind, it becomes clear that life is only as real as I ask it to be. Through balance and understanding, it is eventually realized that "real" is whatever I believe it to be. The only thing required for anyone to have this experience is a controlled sense of focus, and a truly open mind. For no words that I, or anyone can write, can prepare you for the awe of higher consciousness. It must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
If you are like most humans and not fully aware of the self, this may all sound absurd. In fact, anyone submersed in modern pop-culture would surely proclaim these ideas are that of an insane mind; They are. For I was once a sane human being who turned mad, only to realize that everyone else had literally lost their minds. Insanity you see, is a relative term. Sanity and insanity are polar opposite perspectives of a single truth. They are two sides of the same coin.
From this "insane" perspective, I can tell you with absolute confidence and clarity that nothing is as it seems. Nothing is as it appears to be. There is a secret being kept from you. It is an inconceivable act of misdirection so you do not see the truth behind the magic that surrounds you. It's a magic trick so big, so complex, accounting for so many details, you'll find it impossible to believe, even though the truth of it is being revealed to you right now in everything you experience, in every waking moment. Once you know what to look for, you see it in everything. Doubt is the only barrier separating the insanity of modern life from the magic and beauty of a truly insane mind. The most important thing to understand about the mind is to realize perspective is everything. The perspectives of a sane mind versus an insane mind are not mutually exclusive. Balancing ones mind between these two distinct frames of consciousness allows for the birth of an enlightened perspective.
To see a different perspective of truth, we must first possess an open mind to radical ideas. We must forget everything we have ever been taught about the world and approach all concepts as if they are new; without cynicism or without judgement obstructing the view. We must deny anything ever learned from someone else, and accept only the knowledge that emerges now from deep within. Through this clarity of consciousness, the truth of the mind-reality becomes all too apparent and with it, laughter erupts from your heart! When the laughter settles into compassion, you know who you are. You know what your are!
We can make this concept as complex as we want or as simple as we want. We can embellish the story with prophets, angels and demons. We can imagine ancient gods and goddesses. We can complicate the story with massive atomic super-colliders, and imagine a cosmos, perhaps teaming with life, somewhere in the distance holding the key to understanding the secrets of the universe. But, if we are ready to be honest with ourself, we need to strip away all of the fan-fare and describe this concept, this infinite present moment, free of any limitation at all. For all of existence can be described using one simple word; Jehovah. However we describe it, the foundation of all great stories beyond this present moment is, the story of self-realization.
Whether you are coming from a religious background or an atheistic background, there is no doubt that last sentence raised the hairs on your neck. I have chosen to use the biblical name for "God" here, because no other english word carries quite the same conviction or power. This word challenges the psyche and pushes boundaries, creating the space for a truly open mind to flourish. Some spiritual teachers may choose words like "All", "Love", "Energy", "Source", "Prana", Brahnman, "Light" or "Universe" in the place of the name of God, because all of these terms are correct and are completely interchangeable. For this reason, remember that any time I use one of these words, this is what I am referring to. Beyond this, I chose specifically to use the name Jehovah to sum everything up because it is only in knowing the name of God (in any translation) that we correctly define this ultimate singularity of consciousness and with it, the unlimited power of imagination. It is a power of mind so incredible, so magnificently powerful, it is the very source of the concept of God itself.
In my first book, Becoming God, I realized there is more to life than what is seen, and much more to life than what I was ever told. When I began writing, I had never heard of self-realization before. You could say it was happening to me, but I didn't really have any context for it, which was why I was so interested in writing a book. I was an atheist back then; not just your average atheist, I enjoyed a healthy debate about it! I was secure in my beliefs about the cosmos and my place in this universe. I was comfortable with where atheism brought me; a reality that was brutally honest, intellectual and absent of any mystical hope, except for where science could lead us. The theoretical physics of it all fascinated me. If I was in awe of anything, the physical and mechanical understanding of the universe was it. The feelings that arose within me may not have been consciously divine, but science brought me a full appreciation for my minuscule place within the cosmos. With no hope of an afterlife, it also helped me realize just how precious life is.
My path from the world of skepticism was stranger than fiction. My search for truth took me around a circle beginning with science and miraculously ending with spirituality. Traversing this circle brought a sense of wonder I had not known since I was a child, a time when I believed in magic. In Becoming God, I wrote about my path from science to spirituality. Somehow I knew that finding the words to describe my new view of the universe was important for me to further understand it for myself. To do this, I started by writing about the scientific theories that were blowing my mind away. Serious thinkers and fellow hard core atheists, are seriously contemplating the idea of an intelligent design to the universe based on a quantum mechanical view of reality. Concepts such as the multiverse and the relationship consciousness has with the quantum world were completely re-defining reality itself.
To put all of this into perspective, the world of science was gaining a new view of reality that was crushing a massive paradigm. It was the equivalent of the idea of science discovering that the world was not flat. In this case, quantum mechanics was showing us the universe wasn't just one single massive universe, but instead it was just one of an infinite number of universes, each existing within different dimensions of each other, but connected to form a holographic-fractal multi-verse. Furthermore, science proposed the possibility that this holographic universe is somehow quantum entangled with our own consciousness.
With these and other discoveries, quantum mechanics is causing many of the core beliefs we have as humans to be dismantled to give us a completely new view of reality. Within the shuffling of these paradigms, the concept of a supreme consciousness at the proverbial leading edge of all consciousness was not only being considered by science, but this perspective of consciousness was moved from an external force, formally set in the distant heavens, down to something internal and far more personal. It is concepts like these provoking a shift in perspective, that brings fourth a realization of consciousness that is the single greatest change anyone can realize in their personal life. It is without question the most empowering concept I have ever considered.
The idea that I might one day have a spiritual perspective or a belief in the unseen or unmeasured, was simply absurd to me then. At the time, my mind was completely closed to anything hinting in the ways of spirituality. I should say, I did not change teams over night. Instead, my new understanding was a slow and gradual process, because acquiring faith has never been my intended destination. On the contrary, my intention was only for truth. Disproving spirituality once and for all was to be a bonus aspect of my pursuit. I think anyone can find the humor in this.
I should clarify that my beliefs have not swung entirely in the direction of organized religion or spiritual culture, but instead, my consciousness has expanded to more clearly see the similarities between science and spirituality. Rather than focus on the obvious details that perpetuate the argument between science and spirituality, I chose to focus on the details that reflect and support one another metaphorically, and with that, I have come to a union of science and spirituality that satisfies my core belief system. By having just the slightest open mind, I can clearly see the benefits and richness of fully believing in both concepts simultaneously. It may ultimately be a bridge of faith, but it is a small bridge that will enable you to discover the power of the entire universe nestled within you. The comfort, peace and awe that comes from this step of faith is beyond measure. It is easy to see why so many never let go. But acquiring faith in a cynical world is not easy for many. If it is easy for you, I would only ask, did you consciously realize faith on your own, or is your faith a blind faith? True faith is something realized within. It emerges only where all logic and reason run out.
If science is where your present consciousness is at, then you should begin with Becoming God. I am not a scientist by any means, but I was thoroughly obsessed with this kind of thinking when I decided to write about it. As I began my process of "awakening", I used the science perspective to forge my words to describe something completely foreign to the human experience. By studying the metaphors of all kinds of different sciences, I was able to eventually sew a single philosophy together through metaphor. My mind was completely blown when I compared this philosophy with the underlying metaphors of not only eastern religions, but all spirituality, and found them to be a near mirror image.
The trick to seeing this for yourself is to understand that metaphors are not the thing itself, but are instead merely a crude shadow to convey ones interpretation of something unknown. Metaphors are a method to describe something in a way so that we can relate it to the human experience. We all know theologians use parable and metaphor to explain spirituality, but when you really think about it, everyone uses metaphor and parable. Mathematicians, Biologists, Chemists. Upon learning to decipher life itself through these metaphors, a pattern began to emerge and my perspective of the world was forever changed.
As my interest in all of this grew, I began questioning all paradigms. Once I started questioning the paradigms and beliefs at the foundation of my personal being, it was as if the ground crumbled away beneath my feet and the infinite self began to emerge from within me. More than just an exasperation of "Wow!", the biggest of these many epiphany's literally knocked me to the floor, only there was no floor. Even the ground that I laid upon no longer seemed real to me. Nothing was real. The only thing I could be sure of was the experience itself. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined I would see the world this way. And now, I can't believe how I used to see the world. My new view brings a joy and equilibrium to life, unlike anything I have ever known. Free from the chains of society, free from the influence of culture, free from the perspective of other, freedom from the fear of the unknown. I am now truly liberated.
Unlike Becoming God, this book will not be taking the road of science. A true psychonaut understands that where the science road ends, another begins. The rules of science can only take us so far into the mystery before the minds fear of the unknown requires indisputable evidence to lay the foundation of all reality. Only from this rigid foundation will the mind dare ask the next question.
But there is always another question. There is always a different perspective. What I would like to write about now, transcends science altogether, but does not exclude rational thinking entirely. Instead, this book is intended to be much more personal, introspective and philosophical in its approach. It is a book that describes life, the universe, consciousness and divinity from my unique perspective. My opinions are worth no more than any opinions you might have about these things, because we are each living in our own realities, each built out of an endless stack of beliefs. Some of these beliefs we share, and these shared beliefs create the world we live in together. But as much as we may seemingly share beliefs and concepts, our concepts and understandings of the universe differ far more than is imaginable.
In spite of popular opinion, the mechanical nature of the way spirit interconnects with reality can be conceptualized to a degree, but it requires such a radical thinking process, the human mind as it is, cannot conceive of it. You might find these ideas laughable at first, but if you were to entertain these thoughts even in jest, you will soon begin to see the truth of it, just as I did, reflected back to you- woven into ones personal reality. It is reflected back to you to such a fine degree, the notion of the truth will ultimately awaken you to the other side of reality, where you will undoubtedly rejoice in the eternal laughter of the divine.
Within this rejoice, it is my intention now to write a book that entertains such radical ideas, so we may dive deep into the unknown realms of consciousness and its mirrored universal mind. With an open mind we will gaze into the very source of all things and all thoughts of things. It is a journey that begins by going deep into the mind of the observer, and exiting from the singularity event at the beginning of time and space. Collapsing these two experiences together gives rise to an enlightened perspective, the perspective of the mind of the universe itself. Separation is an illusion. There is only consciousness.
The only way to convey this information in its' authentic context, is to share much of my personal journey and the thoughts that arose during many of those personal experiences along the way. Much more than a story about my life, this book will describe a journey within my self; a journey so deep, it was to be expected I would never return. But I did return. I returned through the consciousness of everything I thought "other" to be. This book is a journey of self discovery in the most literal sense of this notion. A journey into a self comprised solely of a stack of beliefs and assumptions I have made about life, and this perspective is entirely unique to me. Your journey will be different. It will be very different, I assure you. It will be tailored specifically for you, and will be based on your personal beliefs about yourself within the here and now. It is my hope that in sharing my experiences and thoughts, that a third eye will awaken in you to the mirrored reflection my story shares with patterns emerging in your life. Not identical experiences, but patterns of types of experiences and what they really mean.
These thoughts that I will share with you throughout this book will be a series of stories, metaphorically telling the story of "now" from my unique perspective. By comparing the metaphors of each story, they will point in the direction of enlightenment. It is an important thing to understand that the metaphors are not the thing itself, so don't get hung up on the details. The Devil Is In The Details. It is also important to understand that my path toward enlightenment is like no other path. All paths are unique. The metaphors that are meaningful to me, may not resonate with you at all. But through a series of metaphors, a pattern will emerge. It is a pattern that cannot be spoken of directly because it transcends the human experience and thus, cannot be related to. It can only be witnessed within you and marveled at. Perspective is everything, when you believe.
But believing will be difficult. Witnessing the truth is so uncomfortable many cannot hold onto it for more than just a glimpse in the beginning. Fear kicks in and you will reject it almost instantly. But over time, and dedicated meditation you too will know the truth I have come to know. I AM. 2 Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will rule over all."-Thomas
This is a journey into the mouth of madness. It will describe a world that is transcendent of time and space. It is a world that only exists here, now, forever. It is a perspective of now that is so radically different from the human experience, just about every neuron of common sense within you will deny everything this book proposes. And yet, between the lines on the pages, a feeling will arise. It will be a strangely comfortable feeling of a forgotten remembrance. You won't know why, but something about it will just feel familiar. Denial and fear will ultimately give way to possibility. From possibility, the truth emerges to become self-evident. Impossible occurrences will begin to happen in your life. Not just one or two coincidental experiences, but coincidences so extreme and so often, they are completely undeniable as anything other than divine intervention. I assure you, Alice has nothing on this rabbit hole of consciousness. If you are looking for insanity, magic(k), fun, and that ultimate wow factor, this book will deliver it to you in spades. If you are not too afraid to open this door, by opening ones mind and turning the page, then you too will surely experience the wonder and awesome empowerment that comes from enlightenment.
"What awakening involves is a re-examination of our common sense"
