I originally wrote my book "Becoming God"
as scientific approach to debunk spirituality and religion through a
close examination of quantum physics, neurobiology, and string
theory. For me, there was no mystery. Everything, I
thought, could be explained by the forces of nature and through
sciences that we are just now beginning to unravel. I couldn't
have been more wrong.
As I began researching my book, it
became clear to me that there was a much closer connection between
science and spirituality than anyone could ever imagine. The more
I probed into this enigmatic subject, the more sure I became that
science itself is not only showing us how it is intricately connected
to spirituality, but is in fact, merely a metaphor inserted within our
waking dream (that we call reality) as a reminder that all of our
thoughts and emotions manifest themselves every second of our lives as
the reality we see before our eyes.
What science, and in-particular
neurobiology has clearly shown us is that the brain is simply too slow
to process the amounts of DATA that we are dealing with on a regular
basis. The proverbial "Nail in the coffin" was evidence presented
by Nobel Laureate, Sir John Eccles in which he calculated that the time
it would require for our brains to process the amount of data in a
single perceptual event would require more time than the entire age of
the universe. It was through this calculation that the
neurobiological consensus maintained that the "consciousness itself
must not remain within the confines of the human skull." Still
the question remained; If consciousness is not encapsulated within the
human brain, then where is it located. This profound
realization has asked us to consider the very real possibilities
proposed to us by historical philosopher René Descartes and the father
of psychology, Carl Jung that there exists a "collective conscious"
that connects every conscious being to one another in an intricate web
of energy and information. It is believed by many that we will
one day be able to tap into into this oneness through self-realization
and directly benefit directly from every experience encountered by
every conscious being both living and dead.
My new understanding has simply been the
most profound experience of my life. My new view of "reality" and
the recognition of metaphors placed within it, has brought a joy and
happiness incomprehensible to me before and has changed my life for the
better in ways I never thought possible. The ability to manifest
and manipulate my reality has merely been a bonus aspect of this
self-realization.
